November is National Adoption Month and this week Focus on the Family and Family Life Today are broadcasting programs addressing adoption and the plight of orphans. There are over 130 million orphans around the world, and Christians have a specific call to care for these children. Paul Pennington is director of Family Life’s Hope for Orphans Ministry.

Wildfires are still burning in Southern California with more than 800 homes destroyed in this latest round of fires. One of the areas hardest hit was in the foothills above Santa Barbara where Westmont College is located. Westmont is a Christian college with about 1200 students. Fortunately they have a fire-resistant gymnasium. Spokesman Scott Craig tells us their story when fire swept through the campus last Thursday evening
